Turkish Virtual Keyboard

Need to type a Turkish word but don't have the right keyboard? Use our free virtual keyboard to easily insert Turkish characters like ç, ğ, ı, ö, ş, ü.

How to Type Turkish Characters

The modern Turkish alphabet is based on the Latin script but includes 6 unique characters with diacritics: ç, ğ, ı, ö, ş, ü (and their uppercase equivalents Ç, Ğ, I, Ö, Ş, Ü). If you are using a standard US or UK QWERTY keyboard, you might find it difficult to type these letters.

How to use this tool:

  1. Click into the text area above and start typing with your physical keyboard.
  2. Whenever you need a special Turkish character, simply click the corresponding button on the screen.
  3. You can toggle between lowercase and uppercase letters using the Show Uppercase button.
  4. Once you are done typing, click Copy to copy your text to the clipboard and paste it anywhere (e.g., in an email, social media, or a homework assignment).

Why are these characters important?

In Turkish, missing a dot or a cedilla can completely change the meaning of a word. For example:

  • kar means "snow", but kâr means "profit".
  • hala means "father's sister (aunt)", but hâlâ means "still" or "yet".
  • sık means "often" or "tight", but şık means "stylish".

Using the correct characters ensures your Turkish is easily understood and grammatically correct!
