- Ömer
Sonunda o kitabı bitirdim!
I finally finished that book!
- Selin
Eee, nasıl buldun? Sana ben tavsiye ettiğim için çok merak ediyorum.
So, what did you think? I'm really curious, since I'm the one who recommended it.
- Ömer
Açıkçası, başlarda biraz yavaş ilerlediğini düşündüm. Ama sonlara doğru olaylar hızlanınca elimden bırakamadım.
Honestly, at first I thought it moved a bit slowly. But toward the end, once things picked up, I couldn't put it down.
- Selin
Evet, yazarın öyle bir tarzı var. Peki ana karakter hakkında ne düşünüyorsun?
Yes, that's the author's style. And what do you think of the main character?
- Ömer
Verdiği kararları anlamakta zorlandım. Ama sanırım yazarın amacı da buydu: bizi rahatsız edip düşündürmek.
I found it hard to understand the character's decisions. But I suppose that was the author's aim: to make us uncomfortable and make us think.
- Selin
Kesinlikle! Özellikle final sahnesi çok etkileyiciydi, değil mi?
Exactly! The final scene was especially powerful, wasn't it?
- Ömer
Evet, o finali hiç beklemiyordum. Kitap bitti ama hâlâ etkisindeyim.
Yes, I never saw that ending coming. The book's over, but I'm still under its spell.
- Selin
O zaman sana yazarın diğer romanını da getireyim.
Then let me bring you the author's other novel too.
- Ömer
Olur, ama umarım bu sefer biraz daha kısadır!
Sure — but I hope this one's a bit shorter!

Grammar & Culture Notes

Grammar
Causatives: düşündürmek
Düşündürmek = 'to make (someone) think', from düşünmek + causative -dür. Similarly: güldürmek (to make laugh), ağlatmak (to make cry).
Grammar
hâlâ vs. hala
Hâlâ (still) and hala (paternal aunt) differ only in the circumflexes and the long vowels. Write hâlâ with the â to avoid confusion.
