- Eda
Arkadaşlar, Can'ın doğum günü yaklaşıyor. Ona bir sürpriz parti düzenleyelim mi?
Guys, Can's birthday is coming up. Shall we throw him a surprise party?
- Kaan
Harika fikir! Nerede yapabiliriz?
Great idea! Where could we have it?
- Eda
Benim evim müsait. Cumartesi akşamı yapabiliriz. Önemli olan, Can'ın hiçbir şeyden haberi olmaması.
My place is free. We could do it on Saturday evening. The important thing is that Can doesn't find out about anything.
- Zeynep
Tamam. Ben o gün Can'ı “Sinemaya gidelim” diye oyalayabilirim. Siz de o sırada evi hazırlarsınız.
Okay. On the day I can keep Can busy by saying 'Let's go to the movies'. You can get the place ready in the meantime.
- Kaan
Süper! Ben pastayı ve içecekleri alırım. Eda, sen de atıştırmalık bir şeyler hazırlar mısın?
Awesome! I'll get the cake and the drinks. Eda, could you make some snacks?
- Eda
Yaparım tabii. Diğer arkadaşlara da haber vermeliyiz. Ortak bir hediye alalım mı?
Sure, I'll do that. We should let the others know too. Shall we get a joint present?
- Zeynep
Evet, uzun zamandır istediği o saati alabiliriz. Herkes biraz para koyarsa hallederiz.
Yes, we could get that watch he's wanted for ages. If everyone chips in a bit, we can manage it.
- Kaan
Ben bir mesaj grubu kurayım, herkesi ekleyeyim. Ama Can'ı eklemeyelim!
Let me set up a group chat and add everyone. But let's not add Can!
- Eda
Ha ha, kesinlikle! Bu iş bizde!
Ha, definitely! Leave it to us!

Grammar & Culture Notes
Grammar
Volunteering: aorist vs. 'let me'
Ben pastayı alırım, Yaparım tabii — the aorist is used to volunteer ('I'll do it'). The 'let me' form (kurayım, ekleyeyim) offers to do something right now. Eklemeyelim is 'let's not add'.
Grammar
Quoting with diye
“Sinemaya gidelim” diye oyalamak = to keep someone busy by saying 'let's go to the movies'. Diye (lit. 'saying') introduces a quotation, a reason or a purpose.
Grammar
-mAsI: the fact that…
Önemli olan, Can'ın haberi olmaması = 'The important thing is that Can doesn't know'. The verbal noun -ma/-me + possessive turns a whole clause into a noun.
